Creating space for a growing congregation
KW: Can you describe the impact the BFC volunteers had on the spiritual life of Shepherd of the Hills last summer?
Pastor DeNoyer: Watching each day begin with devotion, each meal begin with prayer, voices raised in worship, participation in Bible class and just general love for our Savior, was an encouragement to me the pastor of this congregation; but also hundreds of others in our church got to witness Christ living in and through his people. Countless members of the greater community also commented on the professionalism and dedication of these men and women volunteers.
KW: Has your increased space benefited the pre-school as planned?
Pastor: Our new early childhood center that once could fit just 16 students at a time, can now fit 56. In the 2015-16 school we had 70 students coming and going through our ministry space to hear Gods’ Word. Of these children, just over 70 percent of them were either unchurched or from different Christian churches.
KW: How has the additional space increased community outreach?
Pastor: We were able to add a Bible study for moms who bring their children to preschool. We currently have 7 moms coming during the day and 3 working moms joined a separate Bible study in the evening.
We have a large motor skills room the preschool kids use during the day and our Christian Pioneers program and children’s ministry use at night. Another tremendous blessing to multi-tasking building space outside of our worship area.
To God be the glory as 50 more little children are learning through His word. Young people are enjoying fellowship at their church. Moms are in Bible study while their children learn about their Savior. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matt. 19:14.
Please pray God will give more volunteers the servant’s heart of a Builder. Come volunteer with us. Remember us in your prayers and if you can, remember us in your offerings to help us continue, “Working Together, Sharing the Gospel.”
To watch each day begin with devotion and each meal begin with prayer, and voices raised in worship, and participation in Bible class, and just general love for our Savior for the volunteer work being done, was not just an encouragement to me the pastor of this congregation, but to hundreds of others in our church who got to witness Christ living in and through his people. And the community is affected by this, too, as countless members of the community have made comments about the professionalism and dedication of these men and women volunteers. We praise God for their work and pray that he would continue to bless the ministry efforts of Kingdom Workers!
