PROJECT OVERVIEW: Builders For Christ will be assisting Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Raleigh, NC with building a new preschool next to their existing church. Currently, their Precious Lamb Preschool is operating out of the church. This outreach program has outgrown the available space. With this new 9,800 square foot facility, Gethsemane’s Precious Lamb Preschool will be able to accommodate over 90 children and provide them with knowledge about their Savior. This growing ministry will provide a way to reach out to young couples in the Raleigh community.

The three main phases of work are:

Phase #1 – rough framing, trusses, window/doors, interior walls: (4 -5 weeks ending approximately March 18)

Phase #2 – siding and insulation: (3 weeks ending approximately April 8)

Phase #3 – exterior finish, painting, and interior finish: (3 weeks ending on April 29)

WHAT TO BRING? Volunteers use their own personal tools such as a hammer, nail belt, 1”x25’ tape measure, speed square, utility knife with blades, pry bar, and chalk line. All other tools are provided by BFC.

HOUSING: On-site camping was not approved by the City of Raleigh. Instead, volunteers will be camping at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, which is a twenty-minute drive to the church. There may also be housing available with the congregational members.

FOOD: The church furnishes a noon meal and two snack breaks. Volunteers are responsible for their own meals in the morning, evening, and on non-working days. Anyone not involved with the day-to-day building process are encouraged to assist the church members with the meals and snacks as needed.
