Spanish interpreter needed in Phoenix
Volunteer needed to interpret weekly diabetes peer support discussions.
Kingdom Workers Lutheran Health Alliance is partnering with congregations to provide diabetes self-management support (goal-setting around exercise, nutrition, and health literacy) to those living with Type II Diabetes or with pre-diabetes. This Diabetes Peer Support program provides a way for congregations to help people in their community while sharing the gospel.
The CrossWalk Lutheran Ministries’ Diabetes Peer Support Group in Phoenix has a unique opportunity to partner with a local community health center to provide follow-up support for their patients – many of whom are Spanish-speaking. An interpreter is needed in order for these patients to participate in the congregation’s support group.
The interpreter is responsible for attending weekly diabetes peer support meetings and acting as official translator to mediate discussion – listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements in English and Spanish to facilitate effective communication among all participants.
