Our Savior || strongsville, oh
by Hannah Lange & Monica Rehberger, Kingdom Workers Volunteers
The first week of our trip focused mainly on canvassing to the surrounding community about the church and upcoming vacation Bible school. This was truly a beneficial experience for us, as it allowed us to practice outreach to people we had never met. In training for our extensive canvassing, we also learned about other evangelism practices used in WELS churches. As a group, we had many positive responses to our invitation, which encouraged us in our endeavors. In addition, we learned how to respond to those who reacted negatively, another valuable skill. We rejoice that God gave us the opportunity to witness to others while working with our brothers and sisters in Christ!
The second week involved teaching vacation Bible school to children in the area. Our theme was "Dive In!" and we enjoyed learning about many different sea creatures, as well as treasures that are in God's Word. It is so enjoyable teaching the students a different Bible story every day, and then helping them find a way to apply it to their lives. The kids also put a ton of energy into crafts, games, and singing, which made the whole week a lot of fun!
During our two weeks at Our Savior's, we built strong relationships with the congregation and the children we taught, making the whole experience both fulfilling and educational. We look forward to going on another Kingdom Workers trip!
