Was P.E. your favorite class? Do you want to share God’s love “actively?”
Partner with a church to host a sports camp that matches your athleticism (and your love for sharing the gospel). As a Kingdom Workers volunteer, having the right skills and the right gospel motivation are equally important.
Church sports camps typically:
- • Use sports to befriend unchurched families
- • Can be designed for various skill levels and ages
- • Begin or end with a devotion that links the day’s activities to God’s Word
To help make sure you’re the right fit for a sports camp opportunity, think about your past playing, coaching, or mentoring experiences. Assess your skill level in the particular sport honestly.
Also, ask questions about the role you’ll play on the volunteer team. Will you be coaching or creating drills? Will the church expect you to canvass the neighborhood to advertise the camp? Will hosting the camp be a half-day or full-day commitment? These questions can be directed to the Kingdom Worker volunteer management team, or to the church you’re considering serving at.
Ask the pastor or ministry leader to tell you about the vision for sharing the gospel through this camp. Understanding more about the goals of your specific volunteer opportunity will help you prepare fully, execute faithfully, and encourage others to engage in mission work too!
Many sports coaches impart lessons about teamwork, grit, and focus. Christian coaches can also pray for the players, impart lessons about grace, and model love. Apply today if you want to impact lives in this way.
