by Mary LindloffToday I arrived at the village with mixed feelings; this was
our last day of VBS here in Malawi! I was excited to have another opportunity
to share God's Word with the children but I was also sad that this was my last
day working with these precious children. Also, to be honest, I was a bit tired
this morning from all the prep and teaching work we had done over the past two
That feeling of fatigue suddenly evaporated as we pulled up
to the church and the children came running out of the church towards us. They
started singing and clapping, with huge smiles on their faces. They were so
excited to see us again and to learn about God and praise Him. What an awesome
way to start my day! I couldn't wait to get out of the van and start singing
with the children.
Today I was in charge of the singing which I always enjoy
doing over here. Most of the children sing so loudly and with such enthusiasm.
It's neat to see the children sing their upbeat Chichewa songs that they know
so well. It's also neat to see the children catch on to the English songs I
taught them such as "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart!
Where? Down in my heart!"
As we left for the day, the children began singing a
thank-you song. I can't think of a better way to spend a morning than with
these precious children singing their hearts out as they praise God!
