Spring 2017 :: Coral Cady, Field Manager : SE Asia
"Teaching children stories from God’s Word is my greatest joy! Using Christ-Light helps me in my ministry to our children,” shared Miss Chrissy, who teaches Sunday school in a remote village in Southeast Asia. Until recently, she had no materials from which to teach her Bible lessons. She had no curriculum, training, or outside support. Even so, Miss Chrissy persevered and did her best to teach her students about the love of Jesus without resources.
The church of Southeast Asia, Multi Language Publications, and Kingdom Workers have been working together to translate materials, organize the curriculum, and train teachers. Now, almost all of the thirty six Lutheran churches of SE Asia and their Sunday schools have Christ centered materials from which to teach. This has a powerful impact not only on teachers, but also on hundreds of children throughout the synod.
Every Sunday, Miss Chrissy’s students are now learning the true Word of God through quality materials with beautiful pictures and interesting activities. They are learning to apply Bible truths to their lives, and being encouraged to share what they have learned with their parents and others. “Listening to our teacher tell us the Bible stories makes us so happy! We can’t wait to come to Sunday school,” shared Alvin and his little sister, Fina.
More grade levels are being translated, and teachers like Miss Chrissy continue to receive the training and resources they need. Your support and prayers for this work are making a difference for teachers and children in Southeast Asia.
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” -Proverbs 22:6
