Jana works part time as the Executive Assistant to Kingdom Workers Executive Director, Bill Meier. She also fills the role of receptionist, and happily does whatever needs to be done around the office. Jana is fairly new to Kingdom Workers, beginning in the fall of 2014.
If variety is the spice of life, then Jana’s previous work experience is full of it! She has worked at UPS as a fuel and oil clerk, taught second graders for several years, been a substitute teacher, and served as a church secretary. Most recently she was the administrator of the HELP Foundation in Arizona. This nonprofit organization disbursed tuition tax credit scholarships to students in Arizona private schools. While at the HELP Foundation, Jana administered the database, ran the scholarship program, worked with volunteers, submitted reports to the state, and promoted and marketed all facets of the program to constituencies.
When Jana’s husband, Dan, took the position as President of Wisconsin Lutheran College, Jana decided to stay home with their three children. During those years Jana enjoyed many hours of volunteer work with various organizations. She also enjoys her distinct role, alongside her husband, representing the college at many functions. The Johnson kids happen to be pretty involved in athletics, so you will often find Jana sitting in the bleachers inside/outside cheering on her kids. Jana says she is “Living the Dream” of being a wife and mother.
Jana grew up in Iowa (that’s why she is so tall - because she detassled corn), and graduated from high school - Martin Luther Preparatory School (MLPS) in Prairie du Chien, WI – 1987. She is also a graduate of Martin Luther College, New Ulm, MN – B.S. Elementary Education, 1991.
It’s rare to find me without my… glasses/coffee/a book
To get to know me you’d have to… come to my book club
When I was five years old I wanted to be… a teacher
Another Ministry/NPO I love is… Wisconsin Lutheran College, and Compassion International
When I’m not “Working Together to Share the Gospel”, I am… sitting on bleachers!
The moment I knew I wanted to work for Kingdom Workers was… when I was volunteering in the office and we heard about a terrible crisis happening, we all stopped and gathered together to pray.
