Dr. Jason Paltzer has more than 10 years of experience in global health and community development. Currently, he is the director of the Kingdom Workers’ Lutheran Health Alliance providing strategic oversight and development of community-based health initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa, SE Asia, the Caribbean, and the United States.
Dr. Paltzer received his Master’s in Public Health from the University of Minnesota in 2003 and his PhD in Population Health Sciences from the University of Wisconsin in 2014. As a volunteer with the Central African Medical Mission and Kingdom Workers in Zambia, he established and directed the Lutheran Health and Development program from 2003-2009. After returning to the US, he worked with the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute as a research specialist in the Evaluation Group conducting economic analyses on substance abuse and treatment alternatives in Wisconsin. Dr. Paltzer is interested in studying the adaption of substance use screening and brief intervention services in central Africa to address the growing problem of alcohol and other drug abuse on community development. He is also passionate about providing opportunities for improving child health in low-income settings.
Dr. Paltzer is Fellow with the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and an affiliate member of the University of Wisconsin Global Health Institute. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Carroll University and Liberty University.
