Looking Back - Ahead

[KW Note: Nick and Kerry Laper are on temporary assignment as Kingdom Workers Field Managers in Malawi while Stefan and Kathy Felganhauer spend their furlough on the USA]

Traveling the Malawian highway from the airport to Blantyre, our instant impression is that things have not improved significantly since our departure 14 years ago. We pass clusters of under nourished children, sparsely dressed (if at all), and women doing their laundry in the river—deforestation is overwhe...

More from Phoenix, AZ

Posted by djaspersen on Monday, June 23, 2014, In : FIA-Summer2014

The past couple days have been such a great experience here in Phoenix, Arizona.  The children’s faith is growing each day and it is so amazing to watch.  The kids are experiencing hands on activities as they are led through the desert by Moses.  The tribes are chanting Bible passages with excitement and are enjoying hearing the good news about their Savior.  It is so neat to watch the children make new friends and become more vocal as the week goes on.  They are understanding the Bible con...

Notes from Cross of Glory, Peoria, AZ - Joe Garbe

Vacation Bible School at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Peoria, AZ has been incredibly rewarding thus far. At a church of about 300 members (some of which leave during the summer and return during the non-summer months), hosting upwards of 150 area children for VBS has been no problem. The members of this congregation are passionate and always willing to serve. Even when the VBS coordinator had to fly to Wisconsin mid-week for the birth of his third child, the leaders banded togeth...

From Cross of Glory, Peoria, AZ

Coming into this trip, I wasn't sure what our resources or responsibilities would be like. It's difficult to plan for a place to which you have never been. However, each day I see new ways in which God has blessed this church. It's hard to watch them struggle financially yet God has placed them in a location where they can reach so many children. Their VBS numbers were more than double the enrollment of their Lutheran grade school - proving that there is so much room for growth.

Yesterday we ...

Sizzlin’ Summer Camp 2014 – Week 1

North Hollywood, CA

St. Paul’s Sizzlin’ Summer Program is Underway!

When I first found out that I was going to get the chance to work at St. Paul’s First Lutheran Church and School in North Hollywood, CA I was excited and nervous at the same time. I had never been on a mission trip like this before and was ready to use the gifts that God had given me to serve God’s children at St. Paul’s. The big city scared me though. I had never been a ...

Notes from Kingdom Workers' Faith In Action team in Phoenix, AZ
Allison leading the tribe of Joseph in their tent.

Sunday, June 15th 2014

After our flight landed safely, our very first impression of the Phoenix experience was though our lifestyles may be different from one another, we are all one in Christ.  We were welcomed into the church Sunday morning just as it was our home church.  After the service, we enjoyed visiting during fellowship time followed by a brief Bible study.  The cong...

Top 5 Reasons to become a Kingdom Worker

Every single day the Kingdom Worker office is electrified by stories from all over the planet.  God has blessed us with volunteers that possess an eager intensity to do the Lord’s work and, well, that makes our jobs pretty awesome.  The number of reasons to support and volunteer with Kingdom Workers is gigantic, but after an intense staff survey (only 3 people cried this time) we have compiled 5 of the best reasons in no particular ord...
