It has been an amazing start to our time here at Zion in Toledo, OH. As we’ve settled in and fallen into a routine, we’ve had some wonderful opportunities to reach out to the people here in Toledo.

Zion church has several large events planned for the summer months. When we first arrived, we worked on familiarizing ourselves with the staff and the goals for this summer. The first events on our calendar were a neighborhood picnic, school open house and pro...

The theme at Bible camp in Belmont, California was Camp Discovery. Each day, the campers learned new verses that corresponded with the focus on the day. For example, on Monday the take home point was "Discover Jesus, he gives me courage". To emphasize this point, the children learned " Be strong and courageous. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9. Each of the daily versus had sign language to go with it.

On the last day of camp the campers...

Teaching Soccer in Texas

By Reverend Eugene

It wasn't the hottest part of summer, but the group of children gathered under the Texas sun to let their light shine. We had a ball, a soccer ball that is. The children were taught the basics of soccer and enjoyed fun in the sun, but when it got hot they took a refreshment break. We learned about Jesus, the light of the world, and how He shines his love into our hearts...

Every week, we have a different theme that ties into our Bible lesson and crafts for the week. We each take turns telling the Bible story throughout the week. It is amazing to see the faith that these kids have. No one who is enrolled into this summer program is a member of the church. They all have different backgrounds and churches of their own. It is awesome to be a part of this outreach experience through the church. We get to be a witness of our faith to t...

Mission Trip in Georgia

I would like to share an amusing story from this past week. The story takes place out in the streets of suburban Sharpsburg. Zach and I were going door-to-door around noon, hanging information about Faith Lutheran to leave on the door or directly talking to people if they were outside at the time.

While I was making my way back to the car towards the end of our route a policeman pulled up slowly behind Zach's van and had his blue lights flaring. I calmly stepped into the passe...

"Be Ye Perfect"

For many of us who have grown up as Lutherans, the LDS (Mormon) faith may seem like a bit of a mystery to us.  Perhaps you have seen LDS missionaries in your neighborhood - maybe they have even come to your door.  You might have chosen to talk with them, or you might have opted not to open your door because you didn't want to get into a discussion.  It can be intimidating to get into a religious discussion when you don't understand very much about another faith.  And while ...
